The Safeward products fall into three major categories SMBD, SFRD and SEMD. The products in each category can be assembled with components from different manufacturers, and be individually configured for the requirements of the custom Safeward solution to be implemented. SMBD and SFRD are based on Safeward proprietary patented technology while the SEMD is not. The Safeward solutions implemented with SMBDs and SFRDs are also proprietary patented methodologies. Safeward Inc. will partner with only the best-in-business manufacturers of the needed components, to ensure the highest quality and performance for its products.
Safeward Mobile Biometric Device (SMBD)
The Safeward Mobile Biometric Device (SMBD) incorporates a biometrics reader and a wireless modem, and can be vehicle/ship onboard mounted, or portable. Authorized users, previously enrolled individually on each SMBD with the help of the SEMD, have their biometrics stored on the SMBD in a template format. Many users can be authorized on the same SMBD. When the user wants to use the secured service implemented, he/she must activate the SMBD and validate his/hers biometrics against the stored templates. If there is a match, an encrypted wireless signal is send from the SMBD to the SFRD to grant the service. Depending on the settings, one SMBD can communicate with one or many SFRDs, i.e. one user can be granted one or multiple secure service requests.
Safeward Fixed Receiver Device (SFRD)
The Safeward Fixed Receiver Device (SFRD) incorporates a wireless modem and a trigger mechanism to grant the secured service. Typically, SFRDs are mounted and wired close to the "access gate" of the secured service. The communication range between SMBDs and SFRDs can be adjusted from a few meters to hundreds of meters, or even more (factory setting). Depending on the requirements, SFRDs can send an alert/alarm signal to other SFRDs mounted elsewhere, after a successful/unsuccessful attempt to grant the secured service.
Safeward Enrolling Master Device (SEMD)
The Safeward Enrolling Master Device (SEMD) is used to record or delete the authorized user's biometrics, locally on the SMBDs. In order to perform these tasks, the SEMD must be in the Administrative Mode to respond to only the Administrator's commands whose biometrics are checked and verified for authentication before usage. The process of recording the Administrator's biometrics on the SMBD uses a secure procedure and a secured computer that SMBD must be connected to, for this purpose only. Otherwise, the SEMD is a portable device that is being used by the Administrator to authorize or invalidate the user's access to the SMBDs/SFRDs.
