Remote Access Biometric Device Prototype
(Project R-BAS - SAB-R)
Panama City, Republic of Panama (October 22-nd, 2003). The prototype of the Remote Access Biometric System (R-ABS – SAB-R) was just presented to the public in Panama City, republic of Panama. This device is the result of cooperation between the C. C. Inc.(www.cci-panama.com), and the Technology University of Panama, The Faculty of Computational Systems. Using the Secugen technology (www.secugen.com), the device can be used to control the access of a vehicle to a high security area. DESCRIPTION - SUMMARY: R-SAB – SAB-R incorporates the technology of industry leaders in fingerprint recognition systems and wireless technology. A lot of work was done to address the possible security issues, while integrating the fingerprint recognition and the wireless technologies. This is a revolutionary device, which will address the needs for increased security at many sensitive sites. In the initial stage during the registration process, using the Secugen sensor a 400 Byte template of the image of the fingerprint of the authorized driver of a specific vehicle is extracted and stored locally on the device. As the vehicle approaches the gates of the high security area, the driver will present the finger previously registered to the fingerprint reader. The fingerprint template will once again be extracted, and compared to the templates stored. If the template is found, the device will send a wireless signal to the gate, which will activate the opening mechanism. The verification process takes less than one second. This eliminates the possibility of someone forging an ID and presenting it to the security personnel trying to access the sensitive, high security area. It is worth noting the actual image of the fingerprint is not stored on the device, and there is no possibility of someone reproducing the image from the template stored locally. There are a number of security mechanisms already built into the system. Should the customer require additional security, C.C. Inc and the Technology University of Panama, the owners of the technology, will be more than happy to accommodate individual customer needs. The devices will only function in pairs (one-to-one, or one-to-many relation). There could be only one vehicle/driver, or multiple vehicles/drivers allowed to go through a certain gate. Should similar devices be installed at other gates, the same driver/vehicle will not be able to go through other gates if not previously authorized. C. C. Inc. will work with different Government or Private Agencies/Organizations to ensure the privacy of their implementations, and assign different ID numbers to their devices, to enhance the security. C.C. Inc., together with the Technology University of Panama will continue the development and improvement of this product. We will support and enhance the functionality of this product, and will work to customize it for any application our customers may see it integrated with. APPLICATIONS: These devices can be easily implemented at any military sites, airports, jails, banks, research facilities, or other government or private sites requiring strict control of who can go through a certain gate. Private clubs, marinas, private estates are also a good example of where this system could be implemented.

C.C. Inc., a SecuGen® OEM partner, combines fingerprint and wireless technology into a remote biometric access control system
Panama City, Republic of Panama (October 22, 2003) - C.C. Inc. of Panama, has announced the release of a vehicle-based fingerprint biometric access control system, named the Remote Access Biometric System (R-ABS - SAB-R).
C.C. Inc.'s prototype system integrates both wireless and fingerprint technology and is designed to authenticate drivers when entering high-security facilities. The system works by requiring the driver to prove he is authorized to enter by matching his fingerprint with a previously registered fingerprint template in the vehicle. If the driver is verified, the system sends a secure wireless signal to the gate, which activates the opening mechanism.
The system was designed with a number of security features, including the use of a proprietary protocol to protect signal transmissions and the design of restrictions on vehicle-gate modem communications. For example the modems in a vehicle and at a gate can communicate only if their pre-programmed IDs match and when the vehicle is within close proximity to the gate. With the option to integrate additional features and function enhancements, the R-ABS - SAB-R system can be customized to meet the security requirements of its users.
Using R-ABS - SAB-R as part of an access control deployment can help reduce the risks of forged or stolen IDs being used to enter sensitive, high-security areas. The devices can be easily implemented at military sites, airports, jails, banks, research facilities, or other government or private sites requiring strict control of vehicles authorized to enter certain gates. Private clubs, marinas, and estates are also good examples of where this system may be implemented.
The R-ABS - SAB-R was developed through collaborations with the Technological University of Panama and Future 2000 Systems Inc.
